TRC recommends that all patients contact their insurance providers prior to their first appointment to confirm coverage.
AETNA – All Rothfeld Center practitioners are out-of-network providers for Aetna. Payment is required for your first visit; we will also bill to Aetna on your behalf. All follow-up visits are simply billed to Aetna.
Blue Cross/Blue Shield – Nurses Galan, DaRosa-Spillane, and Gillespie are all BCBS providers.
All HMO plans and some POS plans require referrals for specialists. Please contact your Primary Care Physician to request referrals.
Federal BCBS – All Rothfeld Center practitioners are providers for Federal BC/BS, except for Dr. Rothfeld.
Cigna - All Rothfeld Center practitioners are out-of-network providers for Cigna. Payment is required for your first visit; we will also bill to Cigna on your behalf. All follow-up visits are simply billed to Cigna.
Unicare (GIC) – All Rothfeld Center practitioners are providers for Unicare.
United Healthcare - All Rothfeld Center practitioners are out-of-network providers for United. Payment is required for your first visit; we will also bill to United on your behalf. All follow-up visits are simply billed to United.
If TRC is billing your insurance provider, please be aware if you have a deductible or other out-of-pocket amounts. Though we do not ask for payment up front at the time of the service, you may be billed for amounts that your insurance does not pay.
The Rothfeld Center does NOT bill to Medicare, Tufts, Harvard Pilgrim, MassHealth, Fallon, Commonwealth Care, Network Health, or Neighborhood Health Plan.
Medicare – All Rothfeld Center practitioners have opted out Medicare. Medicare will not reimburse for their visits. In compliance with federal legal guidelines, Medicare patients must sign a waiver stating they will not submit any claims for their services to Medicare.
Insurance coverage for other services
Acupuncture benefits are available with some insurance plans; call your insurance if you think this may be the case. Otherwise, acupuncture is not a covered service. Other services such as nutrient infusions or chelation are not covered. Nutritional and herbal products are generally not covered under pharmacy benefits, though certain Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA) or Health Savings Accounts (HSA) may allow supplement purchases from a doctor’s office. Please check with your FSA or HSA account for their specific terms.
Blood labs and specialty kits are not billed through TRC.
